Golden Circle Holidays in Iceland
The Golden Circle is an area in South Iceland that's home to some of Iceland's most popular attractions. You can visit this area as a day tour from Reykjavík, as part of an organised guided tour or during a self drive holiday. The Golden Circle is formed of three main sites: Þingvellir, Gullfoss and Geysir. Þingvellir National park is where the Icelandic Parliament was founded over 1000 years ago and also offers the opportunity to walk between two continents. Geysir is a geothermal and hot spring area, home to Strokkur, a geyser which erupts every 5 minutes. The final attraction is Gullfoss, the Golden Waterfall- one of Iceland's largest and most dramatic waterfalls. Other hidden gems along the Golden Circle Drive include Kerið Volcanic Crater, Fontana Spa geothermal baths and Hveragerði greenhouse village. The Golden Circle is a fantastic area to add on some activities such as Caving, Snowmobiling and Snorkelling/Diving.
