Itinerary Suggestion
Day 1 - Arrival
Arrival in Iceland. If time allows, go for an exploration walk around Reykjavík. We will send you plenty of suggestions of what to see and do in Icelands capital.If you are traveling in winter (September-April), you can go hunt for the incredible Northern Lights.
Overnight the stay in Reykjavík at Fosshótels or similar 3 star hotel. Option to upgrade to 4 star hotels such as Hotel Reykjavík Saga, Hótel Reykjavík Centrum or Fosshotel Reykjavík.
Day 2 - The Golden Circle Drive
Visit Gullfoss waterfall, Geysir hot spring area in Haukadalur and Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO world heritage site.Stay two nights in South Iceland at Hotel Stracta or similar.
Day 3 - Explore the South Shore
Take a tour along the south coast to visit the saga museum at Hvolsvöllur, Skógafoss waterfall and turf farm as well as the endless black sand beach at the town of Vík.Day 4 - Head West
Drive west today and explore the valley of Borgarfjörður with its waterfalls, hot springs and historic sites. Visit Deildaratunguhver Hot Spring with the new Krauma Spa and the Hraunfossar waterfalls.Overnight stay in West Iceland at Fosshótel Hellnar, Fosshótel Stykkishólmur, Fosshótel Reykholt or similar.
Day 5 - Snæfellsnes Peninsula and Reykjavík
Explore the Snæfellsnes peninsula, its snow-capped volcano, beautiful coastline, lava fields and bird colonies. Drive back to Reykjavík and take with a option for a detour via the beautiful Hvalfjörður bay. Explore Iceland’s capital.Overnight in Reykjavík at Fosshótels or similar 3 star hotel. Option to upgrade to 4 star hotels such as Hotel Reykjavík Saga, Hótel Reykjavík Centrum or Fosshotel Reykjavík.
Day 6 - Departure
Depending on your flight time, you may want to spend the morning in Reykjavík exploring or stop over at the world famous Blue Lagoon Geothermal Spa.Optional Excursion: Visit to the Blue Lagoon
The Blue Lagoon is ideally located between Reykjavík and Keflavík Airport. Relax for a few hours before heading to the airport. If you have a morning flight back you can visi the lagoon on arrival if flight time allows or as a day trip from Reykjavik.
Return the rental car at Keflavík International Airport.
NOTE: This is an itinerary suggestion, sometimes it may be necessary to alter the route to fit in with hotel availability. All Iceland reserves the right to confirm a reversed itinerary and the right to change accommodation at short notice, depending on availability as per our terms and conditions.
