    • This 7 night self drive tour will provide you with suitable time at Iceland´s major nature spots in South of Iceland. Explore the dramatic landscape and some of the world’s best waterfalls like Gullfoss, Skógarfoss and Seljalandsfoss. Visit erupting geysers located in the Geysir hot spring area and pay a visit to Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO world heritage site. Enjoy Vatnajökull glacier, Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon and many other unique places whilst limiting driving distances, making it a comfortable 7 night self drive with plenty of attractions.

      Day 1 - Arrival
      Arrival in Iceland. Pick up your rental car at the airport. If time allows go for a walk to explore Reykjavík or take a dip in the famous Blue Lagoon located on route to Reykjavík from the airport.

      Overnight in Reykjavík at Fosshótels or similar 3 star hotel. Option to upgrade to 4 star hotels such as Hotel Reykjavík Saga, Hótel Reykjavík Centrum or Fosshotel Reykjavík.

      Day 2 - The Golden Circle
      Today you will explore the famous Golden Circle Area with all its main attractions. Take the golden circle route southwards. The route will lead you through Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO world heritage site, the golden waterfall, Gullfoss, as well as the Geysir hot spring area in Haukadalur. Take additional stops at Kerið Volcanic Crater and Fontana Spa a natural geothermal spa located within the area.

      Spend two nights in the Golden Circle at Hotel Stracta or similar.

      Day 3 - Waterfalls and Valleys
      Today you will go and explore Þjórsárdalur valley and its stunning waterfall Hjalpafoss. You can also see the viking ruins of Stöng. Enjoy the oasis Gjáin with its green surroundings and the exhilarant waterfalls.

      Day 4 - Volanoes, Glaciers and Waterfalls of the South
      Travel along the southern coast of Iceland on the main road, road number 1. Stop at the waterfall Seljalandsfoss at the edge of the world famous Eyjafjallajökull glacier. You can walk behind the waterfall and make a wish! Drive further along the south coast to Vík to take a walk on the endless black sand beach and take in the dramatic landscape. While driving, prepare to be impressed with the view of the mighty Vatnajökull glacier.

      Stay 3 nights in South East Iceland at Fosshótel Núpar, Hótel Hali, Fosshótel Vatnajökull or similar. Option to upgrade to 4 star Fosshotel Glacier Lagoon.

      Day 5 - Vatnajökull Glacier and Skaftafell National Park
      Spend the entire day enjoying Vatnajökull glacier and the national park of Skaftafell where you can find marked paths suitable for hiking. You can also book an optional guided glacier hike tour.

      Day 6 - Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon
      Take the day and go to Ingólfshöfði cape where you might catch a glimpse of the infamous puffin. Afterwards, we suggest to head to Jökulsárlón glacial lagoon where you can book a guided boat trip on the lagoon sailing amongst icebergs in the lagoon. Heading back, stop at Brunnhóll and try some of that famous glacier ice cream.

      Day 7 - Skógarfoss Waterfall and History
      Drive along the scenic south coast back to Reykjavík, where you will spend your last night. On your way why not stop at Skógar and visit the popular folk museum to learn a bit more about Icelandic History and of course see the majestic Skógarfoss waterfall.

      Another option is to drive through the highlands of Iceland and experience solitude like you've never experienced it before. Make your way to Landmannalaugar where you can bathe in the natural geothermal waters. Please note that this road is 4x4 available only and only open during the summer.

      Overnight in Reykjavík at Fosshótels or similar 3 star hotel. Option to upgrade to 4 star hotels such as Hotel Reykjavík Saga, Hótel Reykjavík Centrum or Fosshotel Reykjavík.

      Day 8 - Departure
      If time allows, enjoy Reykjavík, or explore the Reykjanes Peninsula with a stop at the famous Blue Lagoon for relaxtion. You could also visit the Blue Lagoon on your arrival day if you have a morning flight home. Note, entry to the lagoon must be pre-booked, we can help you! Head to the airport about 3 hours before your flight departs. Drop the rental car off at Keflavík International Airport. Depart for home.
