Itinerary Suggestion
Day 1 - Arrival
Pick up the rental car at the airport and start your trip by driving to the city.
Accommodation is in a double/twin room in the hotel in central Reykjavik. Enjoy Reykjavik by night and look out for the Northern Lights in the evening or book an optional Northern Lights tour at your hotel.
Overnight in Reykjavík at Fosshótels or similar 3 star hotel. Option to upgrade to 4 star Fosshotel Reykjavík or similar.
Day 2 & 3- The Golden Circle Drive
Drive via the Golden Circle to the south. You will visit the golden waterfall, Gullfoss, the Geysir hot springs and Þingvellir National Park, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.Stay at Hotel Stracta or similar for two nights.
Day 4 - Continue along the South Coast
Travel along the South coast and see the magnificent waterfalls Seljalandsfoss and Skógarfoss. Visit the black Sand beach at Vik before heading to your next hotel.
Spend two nights at Fosshótel Núpar, Hotel Hali or similar. Option to upgrade to 4 star Fosshótel Glacier Lagoon or similar.Day 5 - Skaftafell National Park and Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon
Spend your day at the Skaftafell National Park. You might want to go for a guided hike on one of the glaciers and perhaps try a bit of ice climbing.
Visit the glacier lagoon, Jökulsárlón, and see enormous icebergs floating around. If you are lucky you might see some seals resting on the icebergs.Day 6 - Skógar and the Folk Museum
Drive along the scenic south coast back to the west. On your way you stop in Skógar and visit the popular folk museum.
Spend the last two nights in Reykjavík at Fosshótels or similar 3 star hotel. Option to upgrade to 4 star Fosshotel Reykjavík or similar.Day 7 - Leisure day in Reykjavík or Reykjanes Peninsula with Blue Lagoon
Enjoy a leisurely day in Reykjavík or continue your exploration of south Iceland on the Reykjanes Peninsula and stop at the famous Blue Lagoon. The geothermal areas Gunnuhver and Krýsuvík on the peninsula are well worth the visit as well as the picturesque Kleifarvatn lake. You don´t want to miss the chance to cross between the two continents of Europe and North America on the bridge between continents.Day 8 - Departure
Depending on your flight time you might want to enjoy Reykjavík in the morning or visit the Blue Lagoon if you have not had the chance to do so. Please note, entry to the lagoon must be pre-booked, we can help you!
Depart for the airport about 3 hours before your flight. Return the rental car at the airport and depart for home.
