Itinerary Suggestion
Day 1 - Arrival
Arrival in Iceland. Collect your rental car from Keflavík Airport and head to Reykjavík. If flight time allows, go for a walk around Reykjavík or for a dip in the world famous Blue Lagoon Geothermal Spa ideally located on route to Reykjavík from Keflavík International Airport. We will send you plenty of suggestions of the "must sees" in the city.Overnight in Reykjavík, Fosshotels or similar, 3 star hotel
Day 2 - Explore Whale Fjord and Waterfalls
Explore the scenic Whale fjord and the valley of Borgarfjörður with its waterfalls, hot springs and historic sites. Visit Europe´s most powerful hot spring Deildartunguhver.Overnight stay at Fosshotels or similar
Day 3 - Snæfellsnes Peninsula
Explore the Snæfellsnes peninsula with its snowcapped volcano Snæfellsnes, stunning coastline, lava fields and bird colonies. Take your time to explore the magnificent Snæfellsnes National Park. Visit the cozy town of Stykkishólmur from where boat tours around Breiðafjörður bay are available (June-August).Overnight stay at Fosshótels or similar
Day 4 - Head to Westfjords
Take the morning ride on the ferry Baldur and travel to the west fjords (ferry is optional and not included in the package price). Stop at the small but beautiful island of Flatey. Head to Patreksfjörður when you´re back on dry land.Spend two nights at Fosshótel Westfjords or similar.
Day 5 - Látrabjarg and Puffins
Drive to Europe’s largest bird cliff Látrabjarg. Enjoy the magnificent view from the high cliff on Europe´s westernmost point. Afterwards, drive to the Red Sand Beach (Rauðisandur) and enjoy a walk in the picturesque landscape.Day 6 - Explore the Westfjords
Be prepared to get impressed by the stunning fjords while travelling north in this beautiful peninsula. Stop at Iceland´s most beautiful waterfall, Dynjandifoss. You will pass a lot of small villages until you reach the capital of the west fjords, Ísafjörður.Stay for one night in a 3 star hotel /countryhotel
Day 7 - Seals and fjords
Today you will leave the west fjords and drive along the picturesque fjords in the north back to the mainland. Stop in Hvammstangi to visit the Seal exhibition.In the area of Hvammstangi / Blönduós / Varmahlíð / 3 star hotel /country hotel
Day 8 - Visit AkureyriDrive to Akureyri, the capital of the North, see the waterfall of the Gods, Goðafoss.
Spend 2 nights in Akureyri / Húsavík Fosshotel / Foss Mývatn or similar
Day 9 - Mývatn and Whale Watching
Go for a hike in the Mývatn area and be amazed by he stunning views over this unique landscape. What better way to relax after the hike than to enjoy the Mývatn nature baths. You can take an optional whale watching tour from Húsavík that runs all through the day and into the evening (June-August).Day 10 - Tjörnes Peninsula and Dettifoss Waterfall
Drive around Tjörnes peninsula and visit Europe’s most powerful waterfall, Dettifoss (mid June to August). Afterwards, proceed further eastwards.
Stay in Fosshótels or similar, Eastfjords
Day 11 - The scenic eastfjords
Take a relaxing ride along the scenic eastfjords. Stop in Höfn and relax in this cozy fishing village.
Spend two nights in South East, Fosshótel Vatnajökull, Fosshótel Núpar or similar. Option to upgrade to 4 star Fosshotel Glacier Lagoon.
Day 12 - Explore the glaciers
Enjoy Vatnajökull glacier, with the glacier lagoon Jökulsárlón and Skaftafell National Park. Take a trip on the cape Ingólfshöfði and and watch the puffins. Stop at the farm Brunhóll for a delicious glacier ice cream.Day 13 - Head South
Drive along the south coast and witness many natural wonders such a black lava beaches, waterfalls and glaciers.Stay in Hotel Stracta or similar
Day 14 - The Golden Circle Drive
Visit Gullfoss waterfall, the Geysir hot spring area in Haukadalur and Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO world heritage site.Overnight in Reykjavík, Fosshótels or similar
Day 15 - Departure
If time allows: Enjoy Reykjavík, or explore the Reykjanes Peninsula with a stop at the famous Blue Lagoon for relaxation if you have not visited already. Drive back to Keflavík International Airport and return your rental car. Depart for home.
