Itinerary Suggestion
Day 1 - Arrival
Arrive at Keflavík International airport. Pick up your rental car and head to Reykjavík. You may want to visit the world famous Blue Lagoon Geothermal Spa on your way as it is ideally located in between the airport and Reykjavík. Stop over for a few hours before carrying on to the city, a great start to your holiday. Note, pre-booking required as the Blue Lagoon does get fully booked. We can book this for you!Overnight stay in Reykjavík at Fosshótels or similar 3 star hotel. Option to upgrade to 4 star hotels such as Grand Hotel Reykjavík, Hótel Reykjavík Centrum or Fosshotel Reykjavík.
Day 2 - Whale Fjord, Borgarfjörður and Snæfellsnes peninsula
Explore the scenic Hvalfjörður (Whale fjord) and the saga valley Borgarfjörður. Go further to the Snæfellsnes peninsula with its snow-capped volcano, stunning coastline, lava fields and bird colonies.Overnight stay at Fosshótel Stykkishólmur, Fosshótel Hellnar or similar.
Day 3 - Southern Westfjords
Take your time driving along the southern coast of the west fjords which will take you to the town of Patreksfjörður. Prepare to be impressed by the high mountains, magnificent fjords and the sparkling blue seawater.Stay 2 nights at Fosshótel Westfjords or similar.
Day 4 - Látrabjarg Birdlife and Red Sand Beaches
Enjoy your day on Europe's westernmost peninsula of Látrabjarg where you can view a large bird colony and see the birds in their natural surroundings. You might also get to see the beautiful puffins. Proceed further on the peninsula and explore the golden red sand beaches where you can easily spend a whole day taking pictures.Day 5 - Dynjandi Waterfall and Ísafjörður
Get ready to be impressed by the stunning fjords while travelling north in this peninsula. Stop at Iceland´s most beautiful waterfall, Dynjandifoss. You will pass several small villages until you reach the capital of the west fjords, Ísafjörður.Stay one night in Ísafjörður at Hótel Torg or similar country hotel.
Day 6 - Volcanos, Waterfalls and Hot Springs
Today you will leave the Westfjörds. You will drive along the picturesque fjords in the North back to the mainland. Keep on driving to the south.Overnight in Búðardalur / Fellströnd area in accommodataion of the same category as Fosshótel.
Day 7 - Borgarnes, Húsafell and Reykjavík
Start the day with a visit to Hraunfossar waterfalls and Húsafell before you head back to Reykjavík where you will stay your last night. In Húsafell you will find a lovely outdoor swimming pool. If you are looking for something more adventurous, how about taking a visit Inside The Glacier, an Ice Tunnel inside Langjökull Glacier? We can pre-book this for you. On the way back take a break and gaze at the powerful hot spring in Deildartunga. Experience the land of Fire and Ice, literally!Overnight in Reykjavík at Fosshótels or similar 3 star hotel. Option to upgrade to 4 star hotels such as Grand Hotel Reykjavík, Hótel Reykjavík Centrum or Fosshotel Reykjavík.
Day 8 - Departure
Depending on your flight time, you may want to enjoy Reykjavík in the morning before heading to the airport. If you did not get a chance on arrival, take a dip in the Blue Lagoon or a detour around Reykjanes Peninsula. The driving time to Keflavík Airport is approximately 40 minutes from Reykjavik, you need to be at the airport two hours before your flight. Return the rental car at the airport and depart for home.
