The Reykjavik Marathon is a popular event for the experienced runner as well as the whole family. The course follows Reykjavik's beautiful coastline. The marathon starts and finishes at Lækjargata street by the Pond in the heart of downtown Reykjavik.

The conditions for running in August are usually very comfortable – the route is smoothly paved and very flat, while the weather tends to be breezy and in the mid-teens centigrade.
