Itinerary Suggestion
Day 1 - Arrival in Iceland
Pick up your rental car from Keflavík International Airport and drive to the capital. Enjoy the city's cultural attractions, geothermal swimming pools, shops and boutiques, café and restaurant scene. Overnight in a 3 star hotel in central Reykjavík.Accommodation in Reykjavik.
Day 2 - The Golden Circle
Explore Iceland’s famous circle of wonders 'The Golden Circle': Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World heritage Site, the beautiful two-tiered Gullfoss waterfall and the spouting Strokkur in the Geysir hot spring area.Accommodation in the Gullfoss/Geysir area.
Day 3 – Kjölur highland route
Take the Kjölur route between glaciers Hofsjökull and Langjökull through the stark, uninhabitated interior of Iceland. Stop by the natural hot spring river at Hveravellir for a relaxing dip before continuing south. In the 18th century an outlaw named Fjalla-Eyvindur and his wife Halla lived here for 20 years, the hot springs helping them to stay warm!Accommodation in the Skagafjörður area.
Days 4 and 5 - The North
Head for Lake Mývatn via Akureyri town and the beautiful Goðafoss Waterfall ('Waterfall of the Gods'). Explore the many geological wonders of the area such as the lava formations at Dimmuborgir and the pseudo-craters at Skútustaðir. On the second day, you can go on a day tour to Askja Caldera. Drive through the vast rugged lava terrains via Herðubreiðalindir, an oasis in the middle of the desert-like landscape. Enjoy the view from the rim of Askja before taking a dip in the geothermal crater lake Víti ('Hell') - an incredible experience!Accommodation for two nights in the Lake Mývatn area. Option to stay in highland hut for one night near Askja.
Day 6 – Head East with a visit to Dettifoss
Drive on Tjörnes peninsula and visit Europe’s most powerful waterfall, Dettifoss. It is 44m high and at least 200-700 tons of water discharges per second.Accommodation near Egilsstaðir area.
Day 7 - Scenic fjords of East Iceland
Drive along the scenic fjords of east Iceland and enjoy the small fishing town of Höfn with its cozy atmosphere. Head south and explore Vatnajökull glacier, Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon and Skaftafell National Park.Accommodation near Vatnajökull area.
Day 8 - The South Coast
Tour Iceland's beautiful South Coast on your way back to Reykjavík. Walk along the black sand beach near Vík, view the impressive birdlife at Cape Dyrhólaey, visit the Eyjafjallajökull Visitor Centre for information about the famous eruption in 2010, see the waterfall and folk museum at Skógar, View or even walk behind the beautiful Seljalandsfoss Waterfall.Accommodation in the area.
Day 9 - Landmannalaugar
Explore Landmannalaugar, an area characterised by colourful rhyolite mountains. Go for a walk/hike in the otherworldly landscape and bathe in the natural hot spring river.Accommodation in the area.
Day 10 - Drive to Reykjavík
Opportunity to explore more of the Golden Circle area and the South on your way to Reykjavík. Stop by the picturesque coastal villages Stokkseyri and Eyrarbakki and enjoy the local culture.Acommodation in Reykjavík.
Day 11 – Departure
Depending on your flight time you may have time to explore Reykjavik or stop over at the famous Blue Lagoon on your way to the airport before carrying on to Keflavik international airport. Return your rental car and depart for home.

Each of our member properties is unique. Individual lodgings can range from a small farm with only four rooms to a country hotel that can accommodate up to 150 guests. Some have been skilfully converted from traditional farm buildings, former school buildings or community centres while others are more modern.All rooms are comfortable rooms with private/en-suite bathrooms and breakfast included. The majority of hotels have on-site bars/restaurants offering buffets and/or á la carte menus.
