Northern Lights and Winter Wellness
This four night large guided group tour takes you to the most famous places of the country, hunts for the magnificent Northern Lights and allows you to enjoy wellness and spa in a 4 star hotel in the country. This is a real adventure tour including highlights like Geysir hot spring area, beautiful waterfalls and much more. The tour is designed to maximise your chances of witnessing the amazing Northern Lights as well as enjoying the warmth of Icelandic hot thermal water in the midst of the winter. The Blue lagoon has become a world famous wellness and spa attraction and the Riverside Spa in Hotel Selfoss is designed and orchestrated in sense of Icelandic nature and the theme of ice and fire underlining the extremes of Icelandic nature.

TOUR ITINERARY - 4 NIGHTS
Day 1 - Arrival
Arrival at Keflavík International Airport, bus transfer to Reykjavík, the northernmost capital of the world. Stay one night in the city in a 3 star hotel, Hotel Klettur or similar. Enjoy an evening of leisure.
Day 2 - The Golden Circle
We tour the renowned Golden Circle including a visit to the famous Geysir hot spring area, where Strokkur erupts every 5-10 minutes. We also visit the Gullfoss (Golden) waterfall and Þingvellir national park, where the forces of the Great Atlantic Rift are clearly visible. This is where the North American and European tectonic plates drift apart at a rate of 2-6 cm per year. Þingvellir is also the place where the ancient Icelandic parliament was established in 930. It is an area of truly outstanding beauty as well as geological and historical significance. After visiting these world famous sights, we drive through the much greener landscapes of South Iceland to our accommodation in the 4* Hotel Selfoss. Hotel Selfoss is located in the town of Selfoss of 8.000 inhabitants. There you enjoy a welcome drink and a short film introducing the Northern Lights in a proper cinema. Weather permitted a hunt for the Northern light will be in the evening in the Selfoss vicinity
Day 3 - Volcano and Waterfalls
Driving along the southern coast we encounter highlights such as the waterfalls Skogafoss and Seljalandsfoss as well as the glaciers and volcano of Eyjafjallajökull. We will visit the Eyjafjallajökull Visitor Center at the foot of the volcano. A short film (20 min) portrays the spectacular natural event, and the hectic times and incredible challenges met by the family farm of Thorvaldseyri. Accommodation in Hotel Selfoss. Afternoon for your disposal where you can enjoy the hotel Riverside spa that is richly equipped spa area that features a steam room, sauna, hot pool, rainwater showers, relaxation room, lounge and bar. If the weather was not favourable for Northern Lights Hunt the previous night we head for the Lights tonight.
Day 4 - Blue lagoon and Reykjavik City tour
In the morning we drive the south coast to Reykjanes peninsula. There we pass Krysuvik hot thermal area before arriving at the areas jewel, the Blue Lagoon. There is time for bathing, enjoy soaking in the mineral rich water with its fine silica mud experience (bathing admission not included but must be pre-booked prior to departure). The Blue lagoon is on National Geograpic list of 25 wonders of the world claiming it is a geothermal gift of nature.
From the Blue Lagoon we head to Reykjavik for a city tour introducing the city’s main landmarks like Hallgrimskirkja cathedral. Some of the other highlights include Höfdi House, Reykjavik City Hall and Harpa Concert and Conference centre. Accommodation in a 3* Hotel, Hotel Klettur or similar in Reykjavik.
Day 5 - Departure
Depending on your flight time, you can enjoy Reykjavík in the morning. Transfer to Keflavík Airport, pick up from hotel about 3 hours before your flight.
Note: Despite long experience in leading groups, please note that the Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon that is very hard to predict, hence sightings cannot be guaranteed.
