Day 1 - Arrival
Departure from London Gatwick or Manchester with easyJet - arrival at Akureyri Airport.
Bus transfer to your hotel.
Northern Lights Hunt
The Northern Lights Exploration tour is a small group Northern Lights hunt experience. To go into the dark, frozen winter night and observe an unbelievable display of colour, light and texture, is like waking up in a fairy-tale, full of mystery and magic. You will drive out to the countryside or up to the mountains, away from electric glow and city sounds. You will be able to enjoy the beautiful night sky in the best possible situation, of course depending on the weather. Duration is about 2.5 - 3 hours.
Overnight stay in Akureyri for 3 nights at a 3 star hotel, including breakfast.
Day 2 - Explore AkureyriAkureyri is Iceland's second largest town and is the capital of the North. Enjoy the charming town centre which has good selections of restaurants and bars. We will send you plenty of suggestions of what to do with your free day including the “must sees” in Akureyri.
Day 3 - Take an Optional day TourOptional day tour: Whale Watching in Akureyri
Experience and get close to the incredible humpback whales of the magnificent Eyjafjorð, a place of serene beauty, filled with marine life and framed in by massive glacier carved and beautiful mountains.
Optional day tour: Diamond Circle of the North
The Diamond Circle can be described as a magnificent circuit of about 260km in the Northeast of Iceland, which includes some of the most stunning sights and of the most scenic landscapes in the whole country.
Highlights: Lake Mývatn, Mývatn Nature Baths (sometimes called "the Blue Lagoon of the North"). Goðafoss Waterfall and Dettifoss Waterfall
Day 4 - DepartureToday you will depart for home, unless you extend your stay - highly recommended to stay 4 nights!
Pick up from the hotel and transport to the Akureyri Airport. Depart home from Akureyri International Airport to London Gatwick or Manchester with easyJet.
