To be able to experience this wonder, all you need is the willingness to do a moderate 45–50 minute hike (to get to the crater) and the guts to descend 120 meters/400 feet to the bottom of the crater in an open cable lift. The hike to the volcano is an integral part of the tour, not only because of the breathtaking scenery, but also because it’s one of only two ways of getting to the base of the volcano. The other option is to use a helicopter.

DIVING AND SNORKELLING IN SILFRA - POPULAR: PRE-BOOKING ADVISED!

Price range: £££ (minimum age 12 years old)
Includes: All necessary snorkeling equipment, hot chocolate and cookies after the snorkeling trip, entrance fee to Silfra.

Snorkeling in Iceland is an activity that everyone who has learnt to swim, enjoys extreme sports and is not afraid of water or cold can enjoy. Non-swimmers and pregnant women are not allowed on this tour.

The Silfra fissure in Thingvellir National Park is notorious for its amazing visibility and underwater landscape. Melt water from Langjökull glacier, located about 50 kilometres from Lake Thingvellir, travels for over 30 years through lava fields before flowing into Silfra River. This filtering process makes the Silfra water as clear as water can be. Snorkelers experience a visibility of over 100 meters and can drink the water while swimming in it. The fissure is the result of the American and Eurasian continental plates drifting apart. Divers are literally diving between the continents. Your guide will walk with you to the platform and give you a briefing before gearing up. Since the water is cold, the snorkeling tour is conducted in dry suits. These suits will keep you dry and the thermo undergarments provided will keep you warm and comfortable. Various other tours are available including Diving tours. Ask us for details.

Includes: English speaking guide, cave tour and safety equipment
Departures: Daily in summer every hour

undefined

The first steps to the Journey to the Center of the Earth! We offer 45 minute guided tours to Vatnshellir cave. It is one of the most easily accessible cave in Iceland, however you need to be reasonably fit to participate. Exactly how fit is difficult to say, but if you can walk up 2-3 story building without stopping and if you don't have trouble walking on uneven surfaces you should be fine. The cave itself is an 8000 year old lava tube created by volcanic eruption from a nearby crater in the Purkhólar crater family. As the lava rushed down the hill in a lava river it began to cool on the surface, creating a crust on top of the lava river. As the eruption stopped, all the lava from underneath this crust continued to drain out. That eventually left behind empty tube with roof on top that gradually cooled down.

Nowhere else in Iceland is there a better chance to see two of the ocean’s top predators, sperm whales and orcas, than along the Snæfellsnes Peninsula coastline. The orcas are more often seen in winter and early in the summer, during April and June, but there is a chance of seeing them all the way through the summer months. Male sperm whales can be seen especially in June in deeper water. We also regularly see Minke whales, humpback whales, white-beaked dolphins, and harbour porpoises. On some rare occasions we have the privilege of watching pilot whales migrating past the peninsula in large aggregations. The landscape is magnificent around the glacier Snæfellsjökull, and even more so from sea.

VÖK BATHS

Price range; £-££ Children 60% Discount (6-16), Children (0-5) FREE

Vök Baths was opened in July 2019 and boasts a collection of serene geothermal floating pools with infinity view. The site is located on the gorgeous Lake Urriðavatn in East Iceland.

Geothermal heat was discovered in the area a while back when people living around the lake noticed certain spot that curiously did not freeze in the wintertime. Back in the day these spots where used for washing clothes during winter time when it was difficult to find water. These spots also became the center of a myth about Tuska (e. Rag), a creature that used the geothermal springs to get up to the surface. After that the spots become known as Tuskuvakir.

The Icelandic name for ice-free patches like these is “Vök” (plural Vakir). These spots are now the main attraction at Vök Baths and fill the floating infinity pools of warm water. Our guests experience the beauty of bathing in these geothermal spots in Urriðavatn lake and create a special connection the nature surrounding Vök Baths. Iceland is famous for its geothermal activity. However, the eastern part of the country is located on a cold spot making Vök Baths a rarity in this sparsely populated region.

The fissure is the result of the American and Eurasian continental plates drifting apart. Divers are literally diving between the continents. BEER BATHS - 40 MINUTE DRIVE FROM AKUREYRI

Price range: ££ - Couples discount, children 12 and younger FREE

When you’re planning a trip to Iceland, the idea of taking a bath in a load of beer isn’t usually the first thing that comes to mind. However, when you dig a little deeper into some of the unbelievable things you can do in Iceland, you realise it isn’t any ordinary country.

Beer bath, where you bathe in young beer, live beer yeast, hops, water, beer oil and beer salt.

The beer we use for the bath is in the early stages of fermentation, and at that stage the beer has very low pH which will tighten and soften your hair follicles and is cleansing for your hair and skin.

Brewers yeast that has gone through the process of fermenting beer, is a great source of nearly the whole Vitamin B scale, which has a very revitalising effect on skin and hair and is also a great source of protein, potassium, iron, zinc and magnesium.

The beer hops are rich in antioxidants and alpha acids. The oils and minerals from the plant have antiinflammatory effect to the skin and is also used to decrease the surface blood vessels. Hops are proven to have soothing and relaxing effects on muscles and body.

Bath temperature is 37 - 39°C and is filled up with a new blend after each guest.
