About Our Faroe Islands Holidays
Visit the destination The National Geographic Traveller calls home to the world's most appealing islands. Made of 18 small components, the Faroe Islands are incredibly picturesque and thoroughly thrilling. Experience all four seasons in one day by traveling through the islands and their diverse weather conditions, perfect for a self-drive break.
The rugged mountains can be seen alongside colourful villages, and the islands have a charming aesthetic no matter where you travel. Torshavn, otherwise known as "Thor's harbour", is one of the world's oldest courts and dates back to around 825 AD. Stroll through the villages to the oldest settlements with grass roofs and narrow lanes. It's like walking through history, preserved perfectly to give the islands a fascinating and enchanting atmosphere.
The Faroe Islands are a must-see location for any fans of nature and wildlife: they're home to thousands of birds especially on the Island of Mykines, a world famous bird sanctuary. Sail over or visit the Vestmanna bird cliffs, an almost 700 metre high sheer cliff face which serves as a breeding ground for puffins, guillemots and fulmars among other breeds. The world's largest colony of storm petrels can be found on Nolsoy, where visitors can take excursions out in the summer night to see these majestic creatures.
Sublime scenery, a rich cultural and historical heritage and a keen eye for wildlife are all things not to be missed on a trip to the Faroe Islands. View all of the islands from the peak of Slaettaratindur, a 880m high mountain, and take in such breathtaking sights as cannot be seen on any mainland.
