In this tour we go around many of the national parks and nature reserves of the country. Visit Vatnajökull National Park, Askja volcano, Dettifoss and Ásbyrgi. Run around Landmannalaugar area and it’s beautiful, colourful mountains. The geological wonders by Lake Mývatn will be visited and theMývatn Nature Baths. ITINERARY - 9 NIGHTS

Day 1 - Arrival in Reykjavik
Departure from the UK and arrival in Keflavik International Airport. Airport transfer (Flybus) to your accommodation in Reykjavík. Accommodation is located in central a double/twin room in a 3 star hotel with breakfast. Enjoy the evening in Reykjavík.

Day 2 - National Park of Þingvellir
Reykjavík ­run at the National Park of Þingvellir and the surroundings of the active Hekla volcano ­ visit to the cascade of Gullfoss and Geysir hot spring area. Accommodation near Hólaskógur (Hekla).

Day 3 - Landmannalaugar
Run in the colorful Landmannalaugar area, amongst its black lava and rhyolite mountains. Accommodation at the protected area of Landmannahellir.

Day 4 - Vatnajökull National Park
After driving further to the highlands we enter the western part of Vatnajökull National Park and run in the black desert of Sprengisandur and accommodation by Nýjidalur mountain hut.


Day 5 - Askja volcano
A run in the surroundings of Askja volcano and it’s large lake which was formed in an eruption in the year 1875, in the middle of nowhere in the Icelandic highlands. ­Accommodation by Askja, now in the northern territory of Vatnajökull National Park.


Day 6 - Herðubreiðarlindir and Leirhnjúkur geothermal area
A run in Herðubreiðarlindir area of fresh water springs and Leirhnjúkur geothermal area. Accommodation by the protected area of Lake Mývatn.


Day 7 - Highlights of the Mývatn region
A visit to the highlights of Mývatn region and entering the northern territory of Vatnajökull National Park again we run by Dettifoss waterfall and Ásbyrgi Canyon ­ accommodation near Ásbyrgi where one of Vatnajökull National Park visitor centres is to be found.


Day 8 - Akureyri and at Snæfellsnes peninsula
A run by the picturesque capital of the North, Akureyri and at Snæfellsnes Peninsula. Accommodation at Snæfellsnes Peninsula.


Day 9 - Snæfellsnes National Park
At the end of the peninsula of Snæfellsnes a National Park has been formed around a glacier which rests on top of stratovolcano. A run in the National Park of Snæfellsnes and the unique surroundings of the glacier of Snæfellsnes. A drive back to Reykjavík. Overnight stay in Reykjavík.


Day 10 - Reykjavík - Departure
Depending on your flight time, you may have the chance to enjoy the morning in Reykjavík. Take the transfer from your hotel to Keflavik Airport. If you did not get the chance to visit the Blue Lagoon yet and if flight time allows you can visit on your way to the airport.

Tour Details

Daily routine: every day starts with a bit of driving. There will be several stops at places of interest and to enjoy the nature. There will be 5-10 km runs 2-­3 times every day. The driver takes the passengers around and takes care of the luggage during the runs. The guide provides information on culture, history, geology and other significant objects on the way. The guide joins the travellers in exploring the areas, leads the runs and mindes everybodys safety. The guide also cooks, it is expected though that everybody helps out in the kitchen.

All Iceland cooperates with all the airlines that fly to Iceland, Icelandair, Wow air, easyJet and British Airways. We can assist you to find the optimal flight package. The airlines fly to Keflavik International airport.

Icelandair operates flights from London Heathrow and London Gatwick, Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow, Aberdeen and Belfast City. Icelandair offers 3 classes, Economy, Economy Comfort and Saga Business Class.
WOW Air operates flights from London Gatwick, Edinburgh, Dublin and Bristol 
EasyJet offers flights from London Gatwick, London Luton, London Stansted, Bristol, Manchester, Belfast and Edinburgh.
British Airways offers flights from London Heathrow
