Itinerary Suggestion

Day 1 - Arrival
Departure from the UK - arrival at Akureyri Domestic Airport. Individual transfer from Keflavik Airport to your accommodation in Akureyri where you‘ll spend the night.

Akureyri is a bustling town with much to do and see. We‘ll provide some ideas to help you explore North Iceland's capital on your own. Depending on the time of your arrival, you may also have time for an optional excursion.

Overnight stay in Akureyri, 3 star hotel including breakfast.

Day 2 - Travel to Húsavík
Transport from Akureyri to Húsavík, duration of the drive is about 50 minutes. You will be taken directly to your hotel in Húsavík. After your lunch you will go on a whale watching tour.

Whale Watching Tour from Húsavík Harbour
Departure from Húsavík harbour is at 12:00.pm. Húsavík is the Whale Watching Capital of Europe. Discover the magnificent nature of Skjalfandi bay observing whales, dolphins and sea birds in their natural habitat.

After your Whale Watching tour you can visit the Húsavík Whale Watching museum where you can get detailed and interesting information about whales and their habitat, see whale skeletons of several species and learn fascinating facts about the whales. The Húsavík Whale Museum is located downtown by the harbour.

Enjoy the night at leisure.

Day 3 - Explore Húsavík or take an optional day tour
The day is yours to explore Húsavík and the surrounding area. Relax in Húsavík's swimming pool or book one of our fantastic day tours. Húsavík is a fishing town on the north coast of Iceland on the shores of Skjálfandi bay with 2.237 inhabitants. The most famous landmark of the town is the wooden church Húsavíkurkirkja, built in 1907. In town there is also a civic museum about culture and biology. Among other things, it shows a stuffed polar bear (arrived in Grimsey in 1969) and ancient boats.

Enjoy evening at your own leisure.

Day 4 - Drive back to Akureyri - Explore the town or take an optional day tour
You will once again drive from Húsavík to Akureyri. When you arrive in Akureyri you will check in to your Hotel.

Akureyri is an exciting modern town with lots to see and do. Relax in one of the geothermal baths and swimming pools or book one of our fantastic day tours, one of the most popular tour is the "Diamond Circle Tour". We will send you plenty of suggestions of what to do with your free day including the “must sees” in the town and restaurant recommendations.

Enjoy Akureyri at night.

Day 5 - Departure
Departure to the UK from Akureyri Domestic Airport.

Depending on your flight time, you may want to explore Akureyri in the morning or take a dip in the new Forest Lagoon before your flight.

Optional Excursion: Visit to the Forest Lagoon
Optional trip to the Forest Lagoon before your flight. Surrounded by trees and with a magnificent view over the fjord, the Forest Lagoon is a dreamy wonderland. Located just outside of Akureyri, it is easy to make a quick stop before your flight.

This itinerary is dependant on flight dates.
