- New Year in Reykjavík
- Add on bonfire tours and the Ultimate Fireworks Display
- The vibrating capital of Iceland
- Relax in swimming pools and spas
Day 1 - 30th of December 2017 - Arrival
Departure from UK. Arrival at Keflavik International Airport. Enjoy Reykjavik at night.
Northern Lights Tour: Northern Lights Hunt Tour: Pick up from hotel 8.30pm, duration 3-5 hours. The Northern Lights, also known as the Aurora Borealis are a spectacular natural phenomenon. The locations visited are different every tour since we go where it’s most likely to see the Northern Lights each day. You will travel on a coach to the best locations with an English speaking guide. This tour weather dependant and sightings are not guaranteed. If you do not see the lights on the first evening you are welcome to join the tour again free of charge the following night.
Day 2 - 31st of December 2017 - Optional Excursion during the day and New Years Eve Celebrations by night
Optional Excursion: The Golden Circle Tour
You will be picked up by an English speaking guide from your hotel at 08.30am and travel by coach to The Golden Circle Area. The Golden Circle is a fascinating experience. You can explore the world-famous Geysir geothermal area, a geothermal field where hot springs are in abundance, geysers erupt and pools of mud bubble.
You also stop by the magnificent Gullfoss waterfalls and visit Þingvellir national park, the original site of the oldest existing parliament in the world. At Þingvellir, the great Atlantic rift is clearly visible; a rift that is slowly pulling Iceland apart along tectonic plates.
New Years Eve
"Gamlársdagur”: The Icelanders celebrate the last day of the year and welcome the New Year 2016, by attending public bonfires “Brenna” in their home towns and these take place in all the suburbs of the capital from 8 to 10 pm, each one ending with a fireworks display. At midnight the fireworks reach its peak, families gather outside their houses with the children and every household has their own "little" fireworks display, resulting in a truly spectacular lit up sky at midnight.
Optional add on: Dinner at an exclusive restaurant in Reykjavik followed by bonfire tour and fireworks at midnight. Enjoy the fireworks from Hallgrimskirkja or Perlan at midnight. Exact program and tour combinations will be confirmed closer to the time.
Day 3 - 1st January 2018, New Years Day
Reykjavik is very quiet during New Years day. Most of the shops are closed. Swimming pools and spas stay open. Make use of the day and take an optional day tour like whale watching, South Shore Adventure, Northern Lights tour and many more. If you feel like action, there is a possibility for a snowmobile tour, horse riding or sightseeing.
Day 4 - 2nd January 2018 - Departure
Departure to the UK from Keflavík International Airport.
Optional: Visit to the Blue Lagoon via airport
If flight time allows, you can take an optional trip to the world famous Blue Lagoon Geothermal Spa on your way to the airport. The lagoon is ideally located between Reykjavik and Keflavik International Airport and therefore it is convenient to use this time to visit before your flight. Enjoy the Blue Lagoon for 2-3 hours. You can book a treatment if you like, have a lunch at the Blue Lagoon or just relax in this wonderful spa. Continue on to Keflavik International Airport about two hours before your flight. You can also do this tour on arrival (if flight times allow) or on one of your free days as day trip from Reykjavík.
If you do not wish to visit the Blue Lagoon, you will be picked up from your hotel approximately 3 hours before your flight.
