TOUR ITINERARY - 3 NIGHTS
Day 1 - Welcome to Iceland
Departure from the UK. Arrival at Keflavík International Airport. Individual airport transfer to Reykjavík, arrival and check in at Centerhotel Miðgarður in Reykjavík centre. Enjoy Reykjavík at night. We will send you plenty of suggestions of how to make the most of your evening in the city.
Optional Excursion: Northern Lights Evening Tour
The Northern Lights, also known as the Aurora Borealis are a spectacular natural phenomenon. The locations visited are different every tour since we go where it’s most likely to see the Northern Lights each day. This tour is depending on weather and sightings are not guaranteed. If you don't see the lights on your tour you are welcome to join the tour again free of charge the following night.
You will be picked up from your hotel at 8:30 / 9:30 pm by an experienced English speaking guide. You will travel in a coach to the best locations which will vary depending on the weather and viewing conditions. Duration is around 3 hours.
You can also choose to hunt for the lights by Superjeep or Boat. Ask us for details!
Day 2 - Golden Circle Exploration
After a good breakfast at the hotel, you will meet up with our guide and fellow travelers at 9 am and we head to the country side.
We tour the renowned Golden Circle including a visit to the famous Geysir hot spring area, where Strokkur erupts every 5-10 minutes. We also visit the Gullfoss (Golden) waterfall and Thingvellir national park, where the forces of the Great Atlantic Rift are clearly visible. This is where the North American and European tectonic plates drift apart at a rate of 2-6 cm per year. Thingvellir is also the place where the ancient Icelandic parliament was established in 930. It is an area of truly outstanding beauty as well as geological and historical significance.
From Thingvellir we head to Borgarfjordur to the luxurious hotel Husafell which is placed between waterfalls and glaciers. The restaurant is famous for their a la carte menus.
Enjoy the eveing at Húsafell. If weather and conditions allow, this is an ideal spot to view the Northern Lights.
Day 3 - Glacier and Hot Spring Adventure
After breakfast, we head for the adventurous Glacier experience at Langjökull. The tour starts right from the hotel where we step into a monster truck which takes us up on the Langjökull glacier and where you get the opportunity to explore the glacier and see it from the inside. An experienced guide will lead the way the whole time to make sure everyone is enjoying themselves to the fullest.
After optional lunch, we head back to Reykjavik and visit Hraunfossar waterfalls, one of the most beautiful place in Iceland, on the way. There the clear cold springs of subterranean water seep through the lava and run as tiny waterfalls and rapids into the Hvitá glacier river.
A short distance from there we introduce to you Deildartunguhver which is the Europe most powerful hot spring providing 180 l/secs of 98°C hot water. Next to Deildartunguhver is the Geothermal nature bath Krauma which opens summer 2017, where we can soak ourselves in outdoor hot tubes and enjoy the saunas and unique tranquility room. Please note that in Iceland it is a custom to wear swimsuits in saunas. After the refreshing bath, we head to Reykjavik were the evening is at your disposal in worlds northernmost capital.
Enjoy your last night in Iceland.
